Shopping Spotlight: Perfect Sexy Holiday Dresses

With the Holy Day of Shopping (Black Friday, of course!) nearing, make sure you have your shopping list ready (both for yourself and for others!)

Hmmmmm, so, what's at the top of my shopping list? Luxe Holiday Dresses! Nothing says the holidays to me like dressing up in sparkly tops, dresses, jewels, and heels!

The dresses at the top of my wishlist are...*drumroll please*...

Asos Sequin Sparkly One Shoulder Dress: $67.99

I'm in love with this dress! It's just so...sparkly! Offered in sizes up to 18, this gorgeous dress is so fabulous with its all-over sparkle and waist defining tie. I'm all about the asymmetry of the top, since creating a diagonal line tends to slim the look of an upper half!

Ooh la la! I love this piece's nod to sleepwear! With just enough sex appeal, this piece is still structured enough to not be confused with lingerie. Also, I'm totally loving that exposed zipper running down the front!

Sizes up to 20!

I ADORE the drama of this one shouldered piece! The draping of the sleeve is gorgeous, and the lace covered mini dress is super sexy! I love that Asos offers designs in sizes up to 20! Fabulous and so on trend!

This dress has such an amazing pop of color! Imagine walking into a room of the typical little black dresses in this baby! It'll get you all the right kinds of attention. The deep v-back of this dress lends a good deal of sex appeal, too!

LB Shimmer Stripe Chiffon Dress: $47.70 ( 40% off THANKSGIVING SALE!)

I love this dress! It's super flattering with a cinched waist and A-line skirt. I'm loving the shimmery details along the bust and hem, too! Perfect for the holidays with its hot red color!

I'm going to buy this. I have to have it. I'm absolutely in love with the peachy pink satin sash and the asymmetric cut of the chiffon skirt!

Also! Take $15 off a purchase of $75 or more at torrid.com with coupon code "NOVSEVENTEEN"! :)

Rawr! Nothing like a little animal print to liven up a party! This dress is all sorts of hot while still remaining completely office-party appropriate! Loooove it! :)

Shiny, Shiny, Shiny! I love shiny things. This dress is perfect for everything! Holiday dinners with friends and family, that fabulous New Years Eve party, or date night with the boyfriend/hubby/boytoy! It's super sexy with a truckload of sequins upping it's fabulous factor but subdued enough to be versatile!

Okay, so I'll admit that basic black and purple are the cornerstones of my wardrobe. I love wearing purple. It's just bright enough to be noticeable, but remain chic and sophisticated. This dress does it for me. It's feminine and chic, flowy and flattering. Love it!

I love the idea of wearing white for winter. It's particularly chic and I think a little bit luxe. This dress ties it all together with a fabulous stark white bust and skirt, with sexy black lace up top. gorgeous with some tights and booties!

So, what do you think, my loves? I personally can't to get all sorts of dressed up for the holidays!

Yay for Two New Target - Designer Collaborations!

Eugenia Kim, purveyor of the finest hats in New York, is taming up with Target to launch a line of chic and affordable headgear! Her designs typically run in the 100-300 range, with a couple fur hats topping out at $695.

An example of her designs:

Eugenia Kim Sammy 2: $195

Eugenia Kim Vicki: $185

Eugenia Kim Sofie 1: $185

Cute, no? :)

ALSO, Cynthia Vincent will be doing a collaboration with Target!!! Vincent has long been a first choice for boots and sexy platforms. Her designs are typically sold for between $200-$400, so this collaboration is such a great way to get a little designer for a lot less!

Some of my favorite designs of hers:

Cynthia Vincent Henna Pump: $275.95

Cynthia Vincent Taylor: $295

I looooooove these.

I can't wait to see what these designers can come up with on a budget! :) Their collaborations should be in store April 2010!

Shopping Spotlight: Plus Size Skinny Jeans

I feel like everyone on the blog-o-sphere has dropped off for the past week! (Including me! Sorry lovelies!) But I'm back! Just trying to juggle a VERY time consuming new job!

Anyway! I love love love skinny jeans. I rarely ever wear anything else on days when I'm not working! (Which is really only once a week, but I digress.)

I always follow the same set of rules when I'm buying skinny jeans:

  • Don't, for the love of god, go so tight and skinny they every roll, flab, and lump is made clear as day
  • Don't go super tight around the ankle if you're particularly top-heavy--it gives too much of an inverted triangle look
  • Find a pair with just enough stretch. Too much, and you risk wearing denim that looks like second skin, too little, and you'll have problems doing...well...anything.
  • Pair with flowy tops and structured pieces--don't go tight up top when you're doing tight on the bottom. It just sort of looks like everything you own is too small for you.
  • Hem appropriately. Just because they won't drag on the ground if they're too long, having an extra 16 inches of fabric bunches around your ankles just makes your ankles look ridiculous. Hem to the appropriate length.

Currently, my closet is stocked with some great skinnies.

My current all around faves are the...

American Eagle Skinny Jeans: $29.50-$69.50 (depending on wash)

I love these! They're offered in sizes up to 18, but my typically size 16 booty fits into their size 14 comfortably, so they might run large. They come in a huge selection of on-trend washes. I love them! I think I have about 4 pairs...

I love that Gap redesigned their mom jeans to fit more like designer jeans! This style, like most of their jeans, are offered in sizes up to 20, which is fantastic!

Also, since Gap is seriously EVERYWHERE in the continental US, there shouldn't be any problem returning these to a store if they don't work out.

This find is all due to the new Marie Claire Plus Size Fashionista, Ashley Falcon, who recently wrote about plus size skinny jeans. Her two picks were this Old Navy pair, and a pair of Z Cavaricci skinnies.

Thanks!

I love this pair of jeans! The dark wash is super flattering, and a fantastic option for a night out with heels!

I like that these have a higher waist--definitely good for those of us with some extra weight around the middle, like me! Nothing like a strong pair of jeans to hide those love handles.

Since this pair is so straightforward and easy to style, I could definitely see this staying on trend for quite some time!

Okayyyy, so I'm kind of in love with this jean. I have a ton of black tops, so I can definitely see this working into my wardrobe easily. I also, surprisingly like the acid-wash inspiration!

I love the vibrant color of this wash! The double button tab and zipper pockets are cute accents too. These jeans are available in sizes up to 28! So fabulous!

These. Jeans. Are. Awesome!!

I'm in love with the button detailing down the side of the ankle!!! It's a little bit military inspired, and would fantastic with a sequined top under a structured blazer, with flats!

This may just have to join my holiday wishlist!

What are your favorite pairs of skinny jeans? What do you think the best way to make this style flattering. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Yours, etc.

Outrage: Jimmy Choo for H&M

Okay, so am I the only plus sizer INCREDIBLY SAD (and so upset!!!) that the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection is only offered in numerical sizes 10 and below, and alpha sizes S and M?!?!?!

Honestly, H&M is one of the few places  we can get cute and trendy clothing in extended sizes! How disappointing that the highly anticipated Jimmy Choo/H&M collaboration doesn't offer even REMOTELY larger sizes. I mean, come on, sizes S and M only? Seems a little ridiculous to me, given that H&M usually offers clothing in sizes up to 16. Their shoes also only go up to size 9. Ugh.

Yes, they have some cute accessories (handbags, bracelets, etc), which I guess are plus size friendly, but I just wish they had considered the fact that the average size is a 14. Talk about excluding the majority of your potential clientèle.

I'll probably go check it out, just to see it, and hope that they'll soon offer more sizes. For now though, I'm just plain disappointed.

My New Haircut!!! :)

Hellooooo, my lovelies!

Here's a picture of my new cut!!!

Anthony, my fantastic new stylist from Salon Marc Harris in Boston, styled it beautifully...then I went out in the pouring rain, so it looks a little less perfect than before. But as promised, here you go!

He left it longer since I voiced concerns about making my face look rounder. I love it!

Haircut!!!

Soooo, I'm on my way to go get my hair cut! Ahhhhh, I'm a little scared. I really want shorter hair but I haven't had short hair since.....middle school. No kidding.

Anyway, I figure I'll go with a shoulder length bob, much like Kelly Clarkson's, since my face is round (boo), and the last thing I want to do is make my face look any rounder.

Like this!

AHHHH we'll see how it turns out! If I post about it with a photo of myself--it's a good sign! If not...well.. you know.

Trend Spotlight: The Return to Feminine and Flirty

Okay, so I've been on a HUUUGE tough girl chic craze for the past few months, snatching up every studded, sequined, tough, zippered, leather piece I could get my hands on...and while I'll still be incorporating all those pieces into my outfits, I'm dying to throw something ultra feminine on.

I want it all--bows, ruffles, satin-y shine, jewels, lace, chiffon, and all things luxurious and feminine!

Some of the things that I'm absolutely craving right now are the perfect feminine and flirty dress, ruffled shoes, deliciously gorgeous jewelry, and whimsical, girly gloves!

Here are some pieces I would LOVE to add to my wardrobe!

Asos Mesh One Shoulder Body Con Dress: $82.26

I love the contrasting champagne satin under the black mesh--it really makes the draping of the mesh stand out, and I love the satin band that creates a great waistline!

Believe it or not, Asos carries this gorgeous dress in sizes up to 20, which is fantastic! (Why can't places like H&M carry more extended sizes?? Oh, that's right, Karl.)

This is EXACTLY how I would style my tough girl items with my girly ones! The super sweet dress is toned down by the leather jacket and black booties. I think this is absolutely fabulous!!! I love it!

So cute and flirty!!!!! Absolutely love this dress! It's so perfect for all the holiday parties you fashionable ladies will be attending!

This is adorable! I love the big bow, schoolgirl pleats, and the peek of tulle under the bottom hem. It's really cutesy, so I would pair it with some light and flowy pieces that aren't too ultra feminine.

I love love love this! It's super feminine and girly, but so wearable since it's black. I would love to pair this with a bow-centric top, and some satin-y strappy heels!

Also love that Martin + Osa offers sizes up to 18. Not QUITE there, but well on its way to offering plus size clothing!

GIANT BOW! Plus chains?? Delicious.

I love big slouchy bows like this. and since it isn't a ridiculously poofy bow, it doesn't add bulk if you're heavier up top! I actually think this top would look super cute with the pleated skirt above! :)

I love that this coat has a girly flared skirt!! I'm also LOVING the muted purple and black check! Fabulous over a little black dress!

These are so chic! They would be perfect under a pink chiffon tunic with layered thin gold chains with bow accents, and some gorgeous heels!

This is so cute! I love the smattering of bows along the neckline--totally negates the need for a necklace!! Of course though, you can always up the ante by adding a gorgeous statement necklace! If you can't be ridiculously lush and overthetop during the holidays, when can you?!

I loooove how girly this is! I typically shy away from the overly pink, but this is absolute perfection! It's also touchen up just a liiiiittle bit with some zipper details! Fabulous!

I adore this!!!! Perfectly feminine but still so wearable with absolutely everything!!!! I want to wear this shoe every day. I do. Seriously.

So feminine but still edgy and chic! I love this bootie!!! I would totally wear this with opaque tights and a super flowy tunic.

These gloves are so feminine and versatile! They would be such a great complement to a super girly outfit without overdoing it. (These would look great with some pastel layers/sweaters!)

Nothing says feminine and ladylike like some fabulous elbow-length gloves. These are beautiful, and so warm looking! You could pair it with a lacy dress like the model in the photo has done, or pair it with a drapey pink open cardigan over a chiffon top and leggings with ballet flats for a more casual look.

I love all the charms and bows on this necklace! The cameo pendant also lends a great super feminine Victorian/old school air to the piece. I adore this!!!

I love the twisted chains of this necklace and the random pops of green from the ribbon and from stones on the chain. Fantastic! And such a great contrast to girly pastel pink pieces.

I love this! It's big but soft, muted but shiny! I love this with muted shades of peach and pink, maybe a sheer white dress with layers of textured fabric!

The softness and muted texture of this bracelet is fantastic. I absolutely love the pop of faceted stones along the middle of the fabric. Gorgeous!

So, ladies, what do you think? Do you think you'll fall love with some especially feminine pieces this season? I'd love to know what you think! :)

Yours, etc.
