Woke up to surprisingly cool mornings this weekend, so I decided to play around with textures and layers in this look. I love, love, love utility jackets. They feel so effortlessly cool, and add the perfect touch of casual to dress down any outfit. I actually picked this one up from Gap’s Men’s section (don’t judge me!) a few years ago, when I was hunting everywhere for the perfect plus size version and couldn’t find it anywhere. Paired with a lace dress from Forever21 and lots of layered jewels, this Gap jacket (similar from Gap; similar from Eddie Bauer) goes from boyish to ladylike super easily. Anyone else look at men’s clothes when you go shopping? I know it’s kind of weird…but whatever. If it works, it works! ♥

LOVING. I'm such a layer girl but it can be tough when it's hotter than the dickens outside. This is so summer cool and I love the belt cinch. Fabulous job, dear!

Everything fit together so beautifully! I love utility jacket! You can wear them with everything (maybe not to the oscar, but I don't think I'll be invited any time soon xD).The clutch, the necklaces and the bracelets make the outfit look even better! And as a shoe fanatic, you'll know what I'm thinking of those shoes 😉

I love the contrast of the safari esque shirt with the feminine lace. I am no stranger to the men's sections. The men's section in H&M is my favorite, and the men's clearance in Urban Outfitters is the only part of the store I can afford.

A little of everything here- cute lace dress toughened up by the jacket and lace-up sandals. Layering is what I sometimes call "trying too hard," especially when layering just looks like a hot mess. You did it right for this outfit. Very nice job of layering, Allison. Great outfit!
