Had a fabulous celebratory dinner at Sel de la Terre with the boyfriend last night--this is what I wore! (I look kind of mean in my picture--I'm not, I'm promise! But the camera was not cooperating and I think my frustration shows. Oh well!)
Put this look together because a dress I had ordered came in and didn't fit. Felt HORRIBLE, so I felt like I needed to make myself look at least presentable. This was the result!

Designer Spotlight: Hips and Curves
Sorry for the lack of post yesterday! Swamped with studying and an all-nighter :(
Anyway! I came across Hips and Curves while I was procrastinating and knew I wanted to blog about this retailer! They specialize in the most beautiful plus size lingerie I've seen so far. I'm a firm believer that regardless of whether or not you have a boyfriend/bedfriend/friend with benefits, you should have at LEAST one amazing piece of lingerie. Just in case. And to just feel hot! Their corsets, in particular are GORGEOUS, and the steel boned items are designed to whittle your waist down 4 inches! Crazy.
Baronessa Steel Boned Silk Corset: $149.95
Isn't this gorgeous?! I want this sooooo bad, but they're sold out of my size. This would be a fabulous part of a Halloween costume, or a hot date worn with a fitted blazer and skinny jeans for a little more modesty. I sincerely love this and hope they restock their sizes often!

Satin Jacquard Corset: $69.50
This corset is HOTTTT!
It doesn't have the same steel boning as the above corset, but it's definitely reflected in the price!
The great thing about wearing a corset is....no jiggly belly bits! Hooray!
Contessa Steel Boned Corset: $149.95
I love the bow detail on this one! It's so chic and simple with serious sex appeal. This one takes a bunch of inches off too! The lace-up back is super hot too!
Reversible Leopard Satin Bustier: $47.95
For those of you who are animals in the sack! The other side if a bright red satin, so you can mix it up! This bustier is fierrrrrrce.
For those of you who want to play nice--I think this bustier is so pretty! Since it's relatively simple (no bows, laces, etc), it's a great piece to wear under clothes for a streamlined stomach and back.
Leather Corset with Side Ties: $105.95
I want this SO BAD! And I would totally wear this out. The zipper makes it this so updated and cool!
Regal Lace BabyDoll and G-String: $49.50
For those of us who like our lingerie with lots of frills!
I love that so much of H&C lingerie has built in support! These have under wire cups for extra support.
Ruffled Two Layer Petticoat: $21.95
I didn't know people still made petticoats! For that reason alone I want to buy one of these. Adorable!
Cinderella Petticoat: $29.95
This is so badass! I'm not even sure how I would wear this--it seems so cumbersome for the bedroom! Maybe part of a Halloween costume? SO hot.
That's just the tip of the iceberg, too! They have a huge selection of garters, stockings, shoes, costumes, a leather and patent section *wink*, and great bras!
What's your favorite item that makes you feel super sexy? Mine is the black leather corset! So hot and totally wearable out at night!

Trend Spotlight: Over the Top Shoes
My daily grind (for shoes) consists of the usual suspects: comfy flats, leather boots, and black patent pointed toe pumps. These are my "go to" shoes for the majority of the year--they go with everything I own, and are so comfortable! But sometimes, you just need that extra something. This season, it looks like that extra something is going to come from some craaaaaazy hot heels!
Going over all the best runway shows were absolutely-out-of-this-world heels. From the Alexander McQueen "Armadillo" heels (deemed impossible to wear by the good people at Vogue UK), to the sculptural Alexander McQueen heels, statement heels are definitely going to leave their mark on our retail experience.
In case you haven't gotten to look at the Armadillo heels, here they are in comparison to a regular pump:
I truly believe that if I were to own these shoes, my life would be perfect.
...okay maybe not perfect. in fact, probably blister filled, but you get the idea. These shoes are amazing.
In case you haven't gotten to look at the Armadillo heels, here they are in comparison to a regular pump:
Isn't that nuts? The models during that show looked like they were on Pointe the whole time. I don't know how they did it!
These are the sculptural McQueen runway shoes. Aren't they amazing?! I want to buy a pair and put it on my coffee table as decoration.
How will this translate from runway to street-chic for us? Hopefully, into some incredibly intricate-but-wearable rendtitions of the statement shoe! Here are some of my current favorites:
...okay maybe not perfect. in fact, probably blister filled, but you get the idea. These shoes are amazing.
SM Luxe Flame Colorblock Bootie: $79.95
But you know, I can settle for these babies! These are hotttttttt shoes! Although, I think I would like them a lot more with an open toe. Either way though, beautiful!
I ADORE these. I love the intricate seaming and studs all over this shoe. Plus, it's a 3.5" heel, which is very reasonable compared to the 5" that Galliano offers!
Calvin Klein Danica: $148
I love the snake embossed straps on these! They're a little bondage-y, but so HOT!
I'm not usually a fan of pink, but the gold crystal swirls on this pair is to die for. And anyway, I don't think I've ever seen a Louboutin I didn't like!
More studs! I love the dark brown leather on this too--makes it really easy to transition it from Fall to Winter to Spring!
H Williams Purple Python Latticed Platform: $895
I love the tangled snake-y look of this shoe. This shoe has so much sex appeal! Love it.
BCBG Paris Dragon Ruffled Platform: $69.95
This shoe is so cute! I love the bright red color for the holidays and the ruffles and buckles are a great mix of girly and tough!
This is a great stylish shoe--it also comes in black leather, dark silver leather (HOT), medium brown suede, and purple suede! At $70, you can get a pair in each color!
Use code NWSOLE4 for an additional 20% off a purchase of $75 or more!
Fergie Thief Bootie: $139
I'm really feeling the streakiness of the non-patent sections--I also love the shape of the heel on this one. Cute--From Torrid, too!
I'm constantly reminded how obsessed I am with shoes whenever designers send their absurd (in a good way) shoes down the runway. I totally want to revamp my shoe closet! Let me know what you think of the new shoes trends! Which ones do you think you'll end up wearing?

Designer Spotlight: Lane Bryant's New Arrivals!
I didn't used to be a fan of LB, but their new pieces are amazing stuff, really! I love that they're incorporating more updated shapes and using tons and tons of sequins--Plus, they're offering a $15 off a $50 purchase deal until the end of tomorrow!
Sequin Front Top: $59.50
I think this top is fabulous! I love the bow and the way the top drapes slightly. Such a classy piece.
I don't think I've ever been so excited about clothing from Lane Bryant! I've been waiting for more fashion forward pieces--woohoo! What are your thoughts on their new styles? Let me know!
Sequin Front Top: $59.50

I think the color is gorgeous, and the fact that this is 100% silk makes it a total must-buy item!
Sequin Embellished Tank: $49.50
I love sequins and purple--which makes this the perfect top!
Cute and so chic! What a great alternative to a regular pencil skirt.
Sequin Trim Mesh Dress: $79.50
I would totally get this! I would probably have it tailored to just about knee length though to make sure it doesn't make my legs look short!
One shoulder sweater with drape: $64.50
This is what I love about the new arrivals at LB... all the little details! Draping, beading, so adorable!
Sequin Knit Top: $49.50
I LOVE this top! It's just so... wearable. You have the trendy sequins but don't have to worry about any sequins rubbing on your skin--it's a win/win situation!

Designer Spotlight: Yokoo on Etsy
My sister and had I discussed infinity scarves the last time I visited her in New York--we had come to the conclusion that they are absolutely ingenious and completely indispensable. Thus, my hunt for the perfect one began.
I came across Yokoo while searching through Etsy, one of my favorite sites for handmade originals. Her pieces are on the expensive side, but they're absolutely gorgeous, high quality, and so incredibly one of a kind, making them totally worth the splurge. Also, I absolutely love how her quirky style works with these pieces--she models them all herself! Take a look:
White Lightning Combo in Grey: $135
This gorgeous set comes with a huge cozy cowl and an adorable Minnie Bow (which is actually a headband). Since everything is made to order, you can choose which of her 25 available colors you would like the pieces!
Isn't the bow cute? I would wear it off to one side of my head for a super girly look!
The Vermont Snuggler: $50
This is Yokoo's most affordable piece. The color of this snuggler can also be customized, and it looks like it can loop around twice comfortably!
For those of your looking for gifts, this is a fabulous and stylish option!
I would stack one of these on top of my winter coat when it's freezing out of a thick layer of extra warmth!
Circle scarves are such a great option for cold places because you never need to pull your hands out of your pockets to fix a flyaway scarf!
The Soopa Scarf in Pony Grey: $150
If you aren't a fan of circle scarves or "snoods,” but love Yokoo's designs, the Soopa scarf is perfect! The knitting of this scarf is identical to many of her cowls but is structured similarly to your typical scarf.
The only difference?
This one is 8 FEET LONG., which is perfect if you're looking for something to protect yourself from the elements!
Woodsy Brown Cowl: $110
I splurged and bought this cowl as a gift to myself for the holidays! I customized it and went with a gorgeous and vibrant navy color instead of brown--I think it will look fabulous with my winter coats!
Fully extended, this cowl is about thigh/knee length, so I'm expecting this to be so fun to play with and style! Can't wait to receive it!
Braided Chain in Pony Grey: $75
Also available in the Yokoo Etsy shop are whimsical pieces like this Braided Chain! This is absolutely adorable and so original--I would get this in a bright color like cranberry or burgundy and loop it around once to give a simple outfit some interest!

Yokoo Yarn Color Chart
These are the gorgeous colors her items are available in. Gorgeous, aren't they? The navy, forest green, burgundy, and cranberry are my favorites!
Are you guys head-over-heels with this designer like I am? I adore the quirkiness and originality of her designs and I hope you lovely readers do as well!
As is usually the case with items on Etsy, all items are handmade. Thus it takes 2 to 3 weeks to make each item, so if you plan on purchasing one as a gift, order early. Support handmade!

Trend Spotlight: Studs!
I absolutely die for the return of this 80's trend. It's 100% tough-girl chic and I love it on everything (well...almost...and in moderation). Jewelry, bags, shoes, leggings, pants, skirts, tops, dresses...I can think of so many studded things that are currently on my wishlist! :) Just remember--always trend in moderation! Nothing ruins a trendy item like overkill.
Current faves:

YoursClothing Black Metal Detail Satin Tunic: $62.32
I'm actually waiting for this in the mail...hehe. Shipping to the US is expensive at 10 pounds (UK company), but there are such cute items I think it's totally worth it! I absolutely love the exposed zipper in the back. super sexy! The only thing that kind of bugs me about this piece is that the studs don't go all the way around the bottom hem. Oh well--looking forward to wearing this baby with leggings and heels!
Isabella Fiore Pick Up Lines Angie Hobo: $695
The leather covered studs are a great touch--I also think the distressed brass hardware is a great complement. At first, hematite hardware would have been my first choice, but having seen this bag in-store, the brass is great!
Torrid Gold This would be so cute with any going out outfit! I like the flashiness of the mesh under the pyramids--and they're only $8! Scooooore.
Also...I saw these boots at Macy's. I can't find them anywhere online I don't know the brand or name, but I have a photo! Extra style savvy points for anyone who knows the designer and name!

Two words: Cheap & Chic.
'Nuff said.
Leather exterior on a 14kt gold base. So badass!!

So cute! I fall for anything with bows, and this is a great combo of girly and tough!
Love these! They're a 16" calf but designed to go over the knee--I would totally wear these a little more slouchy, probably just to the knee.
